1 Day 1 – Route, Terrain and Menu Terrain Fields, Gravel and Tarmac Paths Menu All brought our own packed lunch Mediterranean Vegetable Pasta in evening Route We started out in a car park just off Verwood road and headed into Moors Valley Country Park, towards the golf course. Then went round the golf course through Pottern wood and out into Pottern park, where we stopped for lunch. After lunch we headed to Holly Hedge where there were some lovely houses and we discussed our ideal homes. Walked through a horses field and then followed a path behind some houses and out onto Ringwood Road. Took us a while to cross the road as it was very busy but once crossed we were approximately 100m away from Gundry Campsite. Walking up to the campsite was a relief as we were all tired and meant we could relax.

2 Day 2 – Lost by Farm Just after lunch on day 2 we followed the paths on the map as best as we could but the path we were meant to take didn’t exist. We ended up going further then we had to, however it was close to a farm and we knew the field we wanted to reach was on the left of it. As a team we decided the best option was to stay close to the farm boundary, which meant having to do a bit of cross country. This worked out OK as we then picked up a path and made it to the field.

3 My own thoughts on weekend - Danielle Overall I feel that the weekend went well, as we worked well as a team, and when there were no paths visible we found out where we were and discussed as a team the best option. Our enthusiasm was a lot better then our practise walk which I think had something to do the weather as it wasn’t raining. Before starting planning for our final walk I had never heard of Geo-Caching, but it turns out that it is really fun especially when you find the cache. Doing it for your D of E made the day go by a lot faster and didn’t feel like you were doing a lot of walking (although you are doing more whilst looking for the cache’s). I’m glad I said yes to doing the expedition as it turned out to be a fun weekend with lots of laughs.

4 Conclusion Fun weekend – being together + finding caches Lots of laughs Excellent team work – during walk and at campsite Good use of initiative Great map reading skills Good food (for camping) Felt like an achievement (finishing and finding Caches) Next time we would need to either drive or walk the route to check that it was all OK as on the 3 rd day a lot of the paths were over grown or the road were too dangerous.
