3 Explain why a Civil Rights movement grew in the USA in the 1950s and 1960s. Introduction: Brief description of the problems in the South – segregation, discrimination, KKK and explain how this contributed to a Civil Rights Movement. Introduce the main protests… “There were a number of protests as part of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 1960s such as…” [list the 5 protests]

4 For each protest, you need to cover these 3 sections. Why did the protest happen? What were the problems? What happened at the protest? What impact did the protest have? What did it achieve? Keep linking your paragraph back to the question – “Due to segregation in lunch counters, the ‘sit-ins’ were organised.”

5 Explain why a Civil Rights movement grew in the USA in the 1950s and 1960s. Conclusion: Go over the reasons why the Civil Rights Movement was strong during the 50s and 60s. Briefly go over what was achieved by the different protests.
