Label the statements F for fact and O for opinion. ____Imported dung beetles now live in Australia. ____Dung beetles performs an important service to humankind. ____Dung beetles lay eggs.

Today’s Bellringer 09/26 Identify the literary device at work! 1. An author makes a reference to Moby Dick, which is an earlier novel. 2. An author uses the sentence “The fighter fell like a brick.” 3. An author says that “the house seemed to sigh more and more every year.”

Prepositions Preposition- a joining word, that joins the noun or pronoun to the rest of the sentence. It is labeled P. Object of the preposition- the noun or pronoun after the preposition in the sentence. It is labeled OP. Prepositional phrases- the preposition + the object of the preposition. It is identified in the question and answer flow after you say the word CHECK. If there is more than one prepositional phrase in a sentence, read all the prepositional phrases during that time.

Writing Challenge!!! You will have 3 minutes to create a hook statement that will introduce a topic that persuades someone to adopt your view on a topic- your favorite food! Then, you will have a peer look over your hook and give you feedback. We will continue this process until your intro paragraph is complete!
