WASH Cluster – Emergency Training D D45 5 Contexts Covered Three scenarios in which conflict or natural disaster populations find themselves 1.People stay at home – Pakistan earthquake 2.People are displaced and stay in host communities – Kosovar Albanians in Albania 3.People are displaced and stay in clusters (camps) – Rwandans in Tanzania, Cambodians in Thailand Scenarios taken from The Sphere Project Handbook

WASH Cluster – Emergency Training D D46 6 Group Work Type of Emergency – Human induced sudden onset with people displaced into camps. Proposed group work is to set a scenario that challenges the group to (a) deal with cholera in the acute/immediate phase (one week to a month) of a complex emergency (b) deal with ongoing bloody diarrhoea/dysentery during the establishment/stabilisation phase (one to two months) of the same emergency and (c) address the risk of louse borne typhus 5 months into the same complex emergency

WASH Cluster – Emergency Training D D47 Group Work 45 mins – 1 hour to work on the response plan and prepare presentation 10 mins per group to present their response. Limit to 2 or 3 groups if need be 20 mins to provide feedback on presentations 7
