Research To find out:- How many attendees do post test training? Who attends BikeSafe? How does this relate to academic research? Are we targeting riders at risk of injury? Is their risk reduced after doing BikeSafe?

Post test training 21% of respondents have undertaken post test training within a year of attending a BikeSafe session But The majority of respondents intend to do training in the future We’re pushing at an open door

Barriers to training “Too busy, lack of time” (71%) “Lack of money” (34%) “Cost of the course” (30%) But riders have strong intentions to do training in the future

Who attends BikeSafe? Attendees tend to be:- Male Middle aged Own sport / touring bikes Are comfortably well off Professional workers As mapped against Mast and Mosaic databases

Is their collision risk reduced? This is a difficult question to answer We don’t have enough data yet But BikeSafe isn’t training, it is assessment and a gateway to training Piloting 2 day workshops with direct input from training providers Reaching higher risk groups – Track based workshops

What next? New evaluation framework is being put in place There will be a series of surveys over two years We will be able to profile riders in terms of beliefs, behaviours and attitude. We can now set baselines to improve against
