What is the crest award The crest award is the biggest award scheme for project work in the STEM it gives you plenty of opportunities to do fun projects. 300 000 young people have completed this award.

Background Charles Darwin believed that organisms would find features in mates sexually attractive if they showed that they were very fertile He called this sexual selection.

Hypothesis That the brine shrimps will mate with other shrimps which were the same size. The reason is that the males would rather mate with the bigger females because they will produce more eggs and more offspring.

What are brine shrimps Brine shrimps are found in the Great Salt Lake in Utah and hatch in May to June in the wilderness. They also have an exoskeleton for protection When the water runs low the eggs will dehydrate and will act as protection they will turn back into there original form when there is a change in temperature or water height.

Materials and Method First I made the brine for the tank and left it for a day to get rid of the chlorine. Then I put the eggs in the tank. A month later they reached sub adult stage then they were ready for breeding.

conclusion That the brine shrimps will mate on the basis of their size This supports Darwin's theory of sexual selection.
