4 How? High level of adult support First hand experience A safe, but remote location without distractions but surrounded by fabulous landscapes and great people

5 Location Blackton Grange 4 miles north west of Romaldkirk On the shore of Balderhead reservoir. Owned by First Ascent “ DO NOT USE SAT NAV FOR DIRECTIONS AS YOU WILL END UP ON THE WRONG SIDE OF BLACKTON RESERVOIR !” A warning from the centre’s own website.

12 Outdoor –Ambition ltd The programme has been designed around groups of 20 pupils and 2/3 School support staff per weekend. Outdoor-Ambition will provide 3/4 group activity instructors (and any other staff that are required to ensure the safety ratios at maintained) and 1 programme coordinator. Their primary role will be to ensure all the safety criteria are maintained.

13 Programme Preliminary residential site and activities risk assessments are already in place. They will be finalised immediately prior to the visit to take into account anticipated weather conditions. Kit list – common sense! Assume it will be cold and wet – especially Friday! Rough ready and warm during the day.. Cleaner, tidier and drier for dinner. Outdoor and indoor shoes.

14 Friday Proposed Timetable Friday pm Leave school drive to Ellerton 1700 Safety chat, protective gear and change 1715 Water fun! 2015 (ish) BBQ 2130 Arrive Blackton. Fired drill, admin unpack, etc 2200 bedtime -maybe!

15 Saturday 0700 Pre breakfast task 0800 Breakfast 0900 Leave for secret survival location 1000 Survival Activities 1300 Campfire cooked lunch 1700 Shower and change 1800 dinner 1900 Evening team challenges 2030 Walk ot the the top of Goldsboro to watch the Mid summer sunset. 2200 Hot cocoa under canvas 2230 Back for bed. (it is all downhill)

17 Sunday 0800 Breakfast (there will not be any early risers today) 0845 Pack and move bags to transit room 0900 Travel to low force 0920 Short walk and then fast water survival and the salmon leap. 1230 Return to Blackton change and warm up. 13300 Clear up,clean and load up 1430 Leave Blackton 1530 Arrive Heighington 1600 Arrive Bishopton

18 Payment Cost £140. Inc: accommodation, meals, activities, instructors, transport and entrance fees. £30 by Parentpay on or before 30 th April Final payment by 12 th June 2014

19 Who will be going? Only all current Year 6 Staffing – 3 per visit plus 3 instructors.

20 What else? Medicines –medicines and form brought in on the Friday morning. Spending money –not needed –there are no shops anywhere! Emergencies and contacts – indemnity form. Contact numbers Final briefing the week before we go.

21 What Now? It will go quiet until after SATs week. As far as possible please do not restrict the dates you can go. Please indicate – basic dietary needs : nut allergy, but especially if vegetarian, or religious observance needs.
