Local Nature Partnerships LNPs – what? Established in Natural Environment White Paper 2011 Announced summer 2012 Self-sustaining strategic partnerships - broad range of local organisations, businesses and people Work with, and influence, other local strategic decision makers Help their local area to manage the natural environment as a system Embed its value in local decisions for the benefit of nature, people and the economy

Leadership – local champions - strategic vision and set of priorities – drive positive change -integrating & improving economic and social outcomes Engage and collaborate at a senior level Raise awareness of value of environment and the range of services it provides Understand & develop best available evidence Involve local communities Overview and co-ordination of activity: collaborative working

Support delivery of Nature Improvement Areas Influence strategic plans and decisions (Duty to Co-operate) Develop ecological / Green Infrastructure frameworks Provide integrated advice to Local Authorities / LEPs / HWBs on the natural environment & current and potential benefits Influence decisions about organisations’ resource allocation Support biodiversity offset pilots Monitor and report on (integrated) environmental outcomes Plan and deliver integrated environmental action Champion links between the economy, health, wellbeing and the natural environment Engage local people in debates about change
