Welcome to the future seminar Wednesday 3rd November Overcoming the challenges of health service provision through the use of mapping
2
Why Mapping? “A picture paints a thousand words…”
3
A world of facts and figures…
4
Painting the picture…
5
What goes in… Postcodes Boundary Data Relevant Patient Categories Demographic Data Third Party Information
6
Telling the story…
7
What does the story tell you? York is the busiest area Easingwold and Northallerton both have some overlapping coverage Scarborough is an area of possibly wasted resources Most areas are performing well The York area may be overworked Some outlying areas are outside of easy access and may suffer There is a large gap in the service cover south west of Richmond Lack of cover is causing a massive shortfall in treatments Would resources and effort be better applied elsewhere?
8
To summarise… Mapping can bring you instant understanding of your data Images can be used to pass on information quickly to others Projects can be more targeted from the start You can improve efficiency Wastage is minimised and therefore costs are reduced You can see where processes are working well More importantly you can see where processes are NOT working Plan for the future with credible reasoning
9
