3 1. need to discuss with countries about how to cooperate in the future regular meetings every 6 months, countries to appoint the contact person. Follow up of May 2008: Discussion on Forward-looking component NRC SoE meeting, Sept. 2008 MB meeting, Nov. 2008 Regular updates at: NFP meeting: February 2009 MB meeting March 2009 Future NRC FLIS meetings: 2010: Once on NRC FLIS, 2011 onwards: 2 x / year

4 2.EEA should provide countries with a demand for Forward-Looking Information (reasonable). It is urgent to establish a glossary and common language. Follow up of May 2008: SOER 2010 guidelines : Part C: FL info in Commonalities and Flexibility Glossary: At EEA: Website exist Part of the work on Part A For future: development with NRC FLIS with countries

5 3. Forward-looking assessment useful and valid component of environmental assessment bottom-up approach with countries and more long-term assessment rather than just supporting SOER 2010. First possibility for cooperation SOER 2010 Part C. Topics for forward-looking assessments: support to strategy building (visions, reporting strategy), information from different sources common drivers outside the national context and uncertainties Follow up of May 2008: -Content related discussions in 2008 with NRC SoE and MB -Continuation with NRC FLIS in future -Long term exploratory assessment the first time in EEA SOER 2010 (Part A) Reports with analysis were based on existing information sources -Belgrade -Glimpses - Western Balkan (consultation) -Part A will analyse long term global drivers and trends.

6 4. expanding the information system with a forward-looking component. new indicators clear guidance and a process were needed to support sharing national outlooks with EEA Policy questions redefined for forward-looking perspective target out of the box thinking - emerging issues and early warnings..Priority areas for SEIS (CSI) those for which most of the countries have available information. Scenarios are seen as components of IS as well. Important to identify success criteria and best practices for scenario use. establishing better web tools to search through forward-looking information, including expert group directory. Follow up: Presentation SEIS-F developments Process will be established during the 2010- 2011. Common i.e. 3 year project with interested countries? 7 5. Capacity building needed - different needs region, national/European methodological support, exchange of information contribution to EEA activities. 8 6. Networking. establish a community of peers formalise the cooperation in the context of the EIONET. Further discussion and thinking needed in this respect. Follow up of May 2008: NRC FLIS and ToR developement
