Reference Resources CCSS: Essential Question: What reference books do I need to know? Library Media Goal: Students will be able to identify Reference resources, explain their purpose and apply that knowledge to various situations.

Atlas An atlas is a map. If you want to find a specific place, street, road, city, or state. Thesaurus In a thesaurus, you will find synonyms for words. Wonderful –Synonyms: great, magnificent, excellent, terrific, cool, and fantastic Also in a thesaurus you will find an antonym for the word. Wonderful-Antonyms: horrible, awful

Dictionary We use a dictionary to look up words meanings. Encyclopedia An encyclopedia is used when someone wants to find information about a person, place, or thing.

Periodicals Provide the most up to date information Are received on a regular basis Examples: Magazines and newspapers NOW LET’S SEE WHAT YOU KNOW!
