Service aimed at clients who are high risk, but will support all victims of domestic violence. Support is short to medium term to reduce the risk of further domestic violence and the emotional affects caused by it.

Independent Domestic Violence Advocacy A risk assessment is carried out with all victims. Initially this is a telephone risk assessment which is followed by a more thorough, face to face, assessment. Support offered to help victims and survivors through the courts process, advocacy with housing etc.

Independent Domestic Violence Advocacy Referrals will be made to other agencies when necessary, this includes referrals for child protection. The IDVA services attends the Domestic Violence Forum and the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC).

Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference Aim: To reduce the risk of serious harm or homicide for a victim and to increase the safety, health and well-being of victims, adults and children.

Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference MARAC Co-ordinator receives referrals of high risk cases from agencies working with victims. Cases are then brought to a multi- agency panel to discuss. This is held monthly. Information is shared about each case and a risk management plan is formulated.

Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference Cases are brought back to each panel until the situation is deemed safe and the case closed to MARAC. In an emergency cases would not wait a month for action, this would be taken immediately.

Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference It ensures high risk victims are supported and better protected by offering a co-ordinated approach from all agencies. Views of victims are taken into account.

Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference The panel helps high risk victims access more resources locally and helps build relationships with local agencies. Through the safety plan, repeat victimisation is reduced.
