What is a BTEC?
2
This is now a brand name for the work-related qualifications offered by Edexcel
3
BTECs include both theory and application of skills (applied learning) This means that the learner gets to practise the skills that they learn, which means that you gain valuable employability skills during the course
4
Yes… However a BTEC may count for more than one option
5
Level 2 = GCSE grade A*-C No. BTECs can be studied at all levels… However, the BTEC options available to you will be at Level 2
6
1.PE – BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Sport (equivalent to 2 GCSEs grade A*-C) 2. PE – BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sport (equivalent to 4 GCSEs grade A*-C) 3. BTECs are assessed within the establishment (centre) which delivers them Evidence for assessment is continual (this means that there are no examinations). This evidence can take a number of different forms e.g. written/filmed/witnessed by an assessor Edexcel is the exam board which is responsible for all BTEC programmes and they check a sample of the work which eachcentre assesses
8
This depends on the course you take… BTECs in Sport – these are graded with a D*, D (distinction), M (merit) or P (pass) BTEC WorkSkills – you either pass once you have submitted enough evidence or you are asked to submit further evidence …as there are no exams you never fail! It is just a question of having sufficient evidence in order to gain the qualification
