1 The following instructions have been written to support the learning of students visiting RSPB Pulborough Brooks. The drawings have been done using WORD, not a pencil! Jackie Day, RSPB Education officer How to draw a field sketch

2 Draw 2 lines lightly, approximately dividing the page equally into 3 parts.

3 Looking at the landscape view draw in the HORIZON using the top line as a guide. Draw what you can see in the far distance e.g. hills

4 Draw in the “middle ground” from the horizon. Remember, the nearer something is the more detail you can see.

5 Draw in the “nearest land” using the lowest guideline to help you.

6 Draw in anything that you can see!
