2. 13. Part of fallen human nature is impatience, especially when our physical comforts or desires are concerned. The devil thought he could convince Christ to change stones into bread after his forty-day fast. But Christ would not work a miracle for His mere comfort. We should likewise be wary of those who suggest constant miracles in order to bypass the hardships of life.

14. The devil's second temptation also involved a miraculous flaunting of supernatural power rather than waiting for His supernatural resurrection. He tried to tempt Christ with immediate rule over all the kingdoms of the world instead of waiting for His triumphant Second Coming.

Matt 16:21-23 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. 22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. 23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
