Rural Broadband, LLC The Fiber Initiative Fact Sheet The Project: 180 mile expansion of fiber optic network The Purpose: Connect government facilities, schools, and utility sites, establish foundation for future services and apps The Services: Communication and data connectivity between Henry County facilities and access to the Internet The Benefits: –Decrease related operating expenses by 50% –Increase data capacity by a factor of 20 times –Improve and enhance the quality of education in Henry County –Efficiencies through the incorporation of connected real estate applications –Provide a future proof platform for technology and energy sustainability The Budget: $14,100,000

Rural Broadband, LLC The Fiber Initiative Fact Sheet The Financing: Taxable Recovery Zone bonds permitting public/private utilization of the facility with 45% of the interest reimbursed by the Department of the Treasury The Time Line: Initial sites connected and placed in service by 4 th QT 2010 with completion scheduled for 2011 The Services Not Under Consideration: –Cable TV and video services –Residential high-speed data and Internet access –Residential and commercial telephone service –Residential and commercial telephone service The Next Step: Henry County Board of Commissioners consideration of a reimbursement resolution on February 2, 2010, and evaluation of public/private participation options.
