Measurement Motion Heat Electricity and Magnetism Light, Sound and Waves Energy

Physics is the foundation of all science and is the easiest to observe through experiments. Physics deals with phenomena that relate directly to the student's world, making it a course in which students can make predictions, practice data collection and graphing techniques, and start to make scientific sense of their observations (Hickman, 1994). Physics gives students the opportunity to apply their mathematical skills to real situations. Physics is the basis for understanding the more abstract concepts introduced in chemistry and biology.

Cornerstone Experiences. Class Discussion of Laboratory Experiences. Group Problem Solving. Daily Homework Assignments. Formal Assessments. –Quizzes, Tests, and Projects.

In order to be prepared for introductory physics class, students must have the following items EVERY day: A 1", 3-ring binder. Writing utensils. A working calculator. Homework.

Students will: follow the Newton core values. show an interest in learning. participate in all classroom activities. be prepared for class turn assignments in on time. attend and be on time to all classes. be responsible for their own learning. be responsible for work which they miss. read, understand, and follow the rules and policies in the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook

Students can make appointments to meet with me: –During X Block. (Monday/Thursday) –During a common Free/Study block. –During Strategies classes. Students can also email questions to me. Students should use the Help Room (240) for drop-in questions.

The fastest way to contact me is via email. You can call me at school. –Leave a message in my voice mail. Use the Tigerscience Website. http://nnhschen.pbworks.com –Complete Course Syllabi. –Important Notice –Extra worksheets
