Overview of Scuba Diving
2
Introduction The members of Blue Group Lily, James, Malik, and Makena present to you a power point about a Chapter 1 Overview of Scuba Diving. Well what’s in Chapter 1 again? Well in Chapter 1 for example is Buoyancy, Air Pressure, Equalizing, and more!
3
Buoyancy Negative Neutral Positive If an objects floats, we call it positively buoyant; if it sinks, we call it negatively buoyant ; and if it neither floats nor sinks, we call it neutrally buoyant.
4
Air Pressure Same air, Smaller space DepthPressureAir VolumeAir Density 0m/0ft1 bar/ata1x1 10m/33ft2 bar/ata1/2x2 20m/66ft3 bar/ata1/3x3 30m/99ft4 bar/ata1/4x4 If you take an air volume underwater with you in a flexible container or an an inverted jar, the volume changes proportionately with pressure.
5
Sinus Areas Do not Dive with congestion or sickness!
6
Equalize + -
7
The Ease to Breathe Using a snorkel saves air in your tank when your on the surface.
8
Knowing your BCD Low Pressure Inflation Inflation Hose
9
No O-ring, No Diving With no O-ring on a Scuba tank your regulator will not seal.
10
Pointing out the Regulator Pressure Gauge 2 nd Stage Altern ate Air Source First Stage
11
Scuba Pressure Gauge A pressure gauge (or can be known as SPG or “contents gauge”) tells you how much air you have during a dive. When your pressure gauge is in the red zone be sure to inform your instructor that you are low on air.
