Native peoples had lived in North America (NA) for several thousands of years
Native tribal groups were distributed throughout NA, grouped into many different cultural groups, speaking different languages, using resources of the land they lived on
during the 15th and 16th centuries European explorers (especially from Spain, Portugal, England and France) were exploring new routes to Asia and ended up finding NA
NA's east coast was colonized 1st, with Spanish, French and British settlers establishing colonies in different areas
