EAST 2010-2011 “BOB” Goes to the Capitol

“BOB” Being Our Best is a campaign designed to help us develop a school wide program to promote positive social interaction and eliminate bullying and bullying behaviors. The “BOB” Being Our Best program will provide an intervention of support for students at school along with resources, a facebook community page and a wiki website available to students as a support tool. These resources will also serve as an avenue for students to network in a positive social environment and share with one another. “BOB” Being Our Best

Thanks to Mrs. Abston our EAST was able to go to the Capitol for the bill signing. Mrs. Abston came up with the idea of going and was kind enough to invite us. Our trip was also provided by Mica Strother who is the Governors assistant.

When we got to the Capitol in Governor Mike Beebe's Reception room. We then were able to get pictures with the Governor as he signed the Cyber bullying and school bullying bill. After the signing we were given one of the pens that the Governor signed with.

Along with our trip to the bill signing we also got to visit Senator Chesterfield. She was representing us and worked on trying to stop bullying. Our EAST students told her about “BOB” and she was thrilled. Senator Chesterfield later talked about “BOB” on Channel 16. Senator Chesterfield then invited us to a Senate Conference where we sat in VIP.

During the Senate Conference Senator Chesterfield told the Senate about “BOB” and read the Laws of “BOB”. Another Senator even told the Senate that he was already a friend of “BOB” on facebook.

“BOB” Being Our Best project helped us realize that even EAST projects can effect more than just our school.
