Hose Pulls Shoulder Load 100 2 ½

1)Firefighter receives order for shoulder load 100 of 2 ½ with a desired nozzle and repeats it back to the Captain 2)Firefighter then takes position on tailboard facing hose bed

1)Grasp female coupling 2)Check for gasket and swivel
4
1)Grasp hose with pinkie to coupling 2)Pivot 180 degrees 3)Hold hose at waist height

Check ground for uneven terrain, obstacles, and traffic

1)State clearly Left, Right, Down, Clear 2)Step off of tailboard facing forward

Do not step off of tailboard backwards

Ground coupling on tailboard

Firefighter then retrieves necessary equipment

1)2 ½ Fog or Smooth bore tip 2)2 ½ Double male

Be sure to close compartment door when finished

1)Check for gasket in nozzle 2)Connect nozzle and double male

Ground coupling behind apparatus

1)Attach double male and nozzle with approved method 2)Coupling tilt, between the feet, or over the hip

1)Take position behind apparatus facing tailboard 2)Place nozzle on chest 3)Begin loading hose on shoulder

Continue to load hose onto shoulder evenly until hose reaches the knee

Once 50 of hose has been loaded onto shoulder, 1)Place coupling overhead and behind back 2)Begin loading hose on opposite shoulder

1)Load hose toward the front of the body first 2)Continue loading hose from knee to knee

When 100 of hose has been loaded, break coupling

1)Return female hose coupling to hose bed 2)Hose left on the ground will become a trip hazard

When completed end coupling should be held at front chest
22
Hose is shoulder loaded so it may pay off the rear while walking forward
