Vocabulary Oracle- A prediction by a wise person. Legalism- A belief that people were bad by nature and needed to be controlled. Silk Road- A network of trade routes that stretched across Asia. The Great Wall- A barrier made of walls that is stretched across China’s northern frontier. Diffusion-The spread of ideas from one culture to another.

Geography Physical features : Tibet Plateau Himalayan Mountains Gobi & Taklimakan Deserts Rivers- Huang He Chang Jiang Xi Jiang Human impact on civilization : Plateaus, mountains, and deserts protected from invaders due to elevation, heat, and distance. Rivers provided transportation and resources such as fresh water.

Leaders / Important People Leader’s Role: Leaders made rules and owned land. Impact of Person: People have to follow the rules, and most farmers didn’t get to own their own land. Shi Huangdi Confucius Laozi Important PeopleLeader Made philosophies

Contributions of Civilization What was achieved during the time of the civilization by the people? Accomplishments: Philosophies Feudalism The Great Wall of China Inventions (paper, utensils, ink, etc.) Long lasting dynasties Government Religion

Conflict Battling: The main people the Chinese fought were the Mongolians. Geographic Struggles: They experienced floods which brought both fertile soil, and great damage. vs.
