1
The intensive, laborious process of writing a research paper (or…holy crud, my rough draft is due next week, and I am clueless)
2
Use the outline as a guide Introduction (paragraph) Author’s Bio (page) Short story summary (paragraph) Analysis of elements (1-2 pages) Comparison of author’s life to story (1 page) Conclusion (paragraph)
3
(Just like the English Regents exam) Choose a specific literary element used by your author. Using specific details from the passage, in a well-developed paragraph, show how the author uses that element in the story. State Show Explain
4
(Show) Supportive details: Directly quoted from text: “ xxxxx xxx xxxx ” (author 54). Information put in your own words: xxxx xx xxxxx xxxxx (author 54).
5
Lather, rinse and repeat Second literary element Third literary element Fourth…. And so on, and so on, and so on, and so on…..
6
Author’s life/writing Comparisons may be direct (obvious) (setting, family situations, conflicts…) Or not so obvious…. “Wilder was the survivor of a stillborn twin brother, was passionately interested in twins, and wrote about twins in his fiction and drama.”
7
Works Cited page and other stuff Use EasyBib: to create your works cited pageEasyBib: “P-doc” your paper (more is better than less!) Follow MLA rules for heading/headers, page numbers, margins, spacing, etc. (ehow)ehow Do not include a fancy plastic report cover Remember: all previous parts of the term paper must have been handed in or the rough draft CANNOT BE ACCEPTED.

It will be an effort, but it will be worth it!
