What is an Improper Fraction? A fraction with a numerator that is greater than or equal to its denominator. Examples: 3/37/59/4

What is a Mixed Number? A number made up of a whole number and a proper fraction Examples: 1 4/5 3 3/7 2 3/5

How to change mixed numbers into improper fractions Step 1: Multiply the whole number by the denominator in the fraction. Step 2: Add the product to the numerator. Step 3: Put your sum over the original denominator. In order to change a mixed number to an improper fraction:

How to change an improper fraction to a mixed number Step 1: Divide the numerator by the denominator. Step 2: This will give you the whole number part of the mixed number Step 3: The remainder is the new numerator. Step 4: The denominator does not change. In order to change an improper fraction to a mixed number:
