Article IV Main Idea: –States must honor one anothers laws, records, and court rulings. http://slati.lungusa.org/states.asp Article IV promotes cooperation, equality, and fair treatment of citizens from all the states.

Article IV Contd Section 2: Part #1- Rights of Citizens –Citizenship- citizens of each state shall be entitled to privileges and immunities of citizens in the several states. –Part #2- Extradition- persons charged with serious crimes cannot escape punishment by fleeing to another state. They must be returned to the first state and stand trial there.

Article IV Section 3 Statehood –New states may admitted to the Union –State cannot be formed within another state –Two or more states cannot be formed together to form a larger state without consent of the state legislatures and Congress

Article V Main idea: –The Constitution can be amended or formally changed –The process allows the Constitution to adapt to modern times. Turn to page 263 in your book! –Copy the chart at the bottom of the page.

Article VI Main idea: –The Constitution, national laws, and treaties are the supreme, or highest law of the land. All government officials must promise to support the Constitution. –Authority of federal law over state laws helps keep the nation unified.
