Hospital Incident Command System Module 12: Objectives Identify your potential role(s) in HICS Become familiar with forms and documentation required for HICS operations, including Job Action Sheets (JAS) and Incident Response Guides (IRG) Demonstrate effective use of HICS forms and documentation Assess your strengths and needs for your potential HICS role(s) Identify mobilization issues particular to your potential HICS roles

Hospital Incident Command System Assigning Command Positions Consider –Current and past work experience –Knowledge of HICS List –HICS functions your hospitals Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) might designate you to perform Review –Job Action Sheets –Hospital EOP –Hospital hazard vulnerability assessment

Hospital Incident Command System Forms and Documentation For each of the HICS functions you might be designated to perform –Locate and read the respective JAS –Review the documents and tools identified for the position in the JAS –Rehearse use of the HICS forms that pertain to the HICS positions For the top priority threats identified in your hospital HVA –Locate the respective EOP annex and/or IRG –Review the actions identified for your potential HICS positions

Hospital Incident Command System Strengths and Needs Identify your strengths and needs to perform the functions of the Command or HICS positions Identify the training and other experience required for you to be competent and feel confident in performing your HICS position functions

Hospital Incident Command System Mobilization Review your hospital EOP notification procedures Identify how you would be notified of an incident Identify what your appropriate preliminary response actions would include

Hospital Incident Command System Review: Module 12 Key Points Your potential role(s) in HICS should be identified in your EOP and is based on your relevant experience and training to assume this position(s) Familiarity with forms and documentation required for HICS operations will promote effective use in the performance of your HICS role(s) An assessment of your strengths and needs for your potential HICS role(s) and understanding of notification procedures will prepare you to assume your role confidently and competently as part of the HICS Incident Management Team
