We liked the surroundings of the gallery as they contrasted to the structured building. Organic.

Another contrast in materials are the sources of light. - Natural - Artificial, Contemporary Lighting The interior is minimalistic – exhibitions are conveyed at their full potential.

Alan Rankle On the edge of arcadia Each artwork is layered with a number of meanings some of which are explored here; Industrial revolution -Transition from farming and cottage industries (to) mechanisation and mass production -People moved from the countryside to towns in search of employment.

The rural idyll This is a new romanticised view of the countryside The industrial revolution prompted mass migration and rapid expansion of towns and cities Composition-painting is ruined by the central feature (a factory,) the colours are angry (red,) dirty (greys,) unorganised and could represent blood and the effects of pollution
