What is “BIM” Building Information Modeling Building Information Modeling develops a complex database which can cover building geometry, spatial relationships, geographic information, quantities and properties of building components. Allows for a “Virtual Prototype” of the building to be constructed. Quantities and shared properties of materials can easily be extracted. Systems, assemblies, and sequences are able to be shown in a relative scale with the entire facility or group of facilities. BIM can be used to demonstrate the entire building life cycle including the development of maintenance schedules for individual components.
