2 Motivation The formula to calculate a temperature in Fahrenheit if we have the temperature in Celsius: But what if we had say the temperature in Fahrenheit, and wanted to know it in Celsius?

3 Motivation C is now the subject of the formula. If we have some value of F, we can now more easily substitute it in to give us a value for C.

4 Learning Objectives Be able to make a term the subject of a formula, possibly involving brackets, squared terms and square roots.
