3 National Health Reform is Essential Current Context is Very Precarious –Care Quality is Low –Costs are Very High –Costs are Projected to Spiral Higher –Families are Being Squeezed by Health Insurance Premiums –We have known these important facts for a very long time….

4 National Health Reform is Essential Current Context is Very Precarious –The situation has become critical. –The economic downturn and health system costs have joined to create an unsustainable future.

5 National Health Reform is Essential Mental and Substance Use Care are Essential Mental and Substance Use Care are Essential –Mental and substance use disorders are preventable and treatable. –If untreated, they become long-term, chronic conditions.

6 National Health Reform is Essential Mental and Substance Use Care are Essential –Uninsurance is Pervasive: Fully ONE THIRD of uninsured Americans have a mental or substance use condition.
