PART 1

Authority {the right to govern, act, enforce laws} 18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. Matthew 28:18-20

Authority – TWO SOURCES (Matt. 21:23-27) By what authority are You doing these things? And who gave You this authority? (21:23) answer The baptism of John–– where was it from? From heaven or from men? (21:23) QUESTION MEN HEAVEN

Authority – TWO SOURCES (Matt. 21:23-27) The baptism of John–– where was it from? From heaven or from men? (21:23) MEN HEAVEN If we say, From heaven, He will say to us, Why then did you not believe him? (21:25)

Authority – TWO SOURCES (Matt. 21:23-27) The baptism of John–– where was it from? From heaven or from men? (21:23) MEN HEAVEN But if we say, From men, we fear the multitude, for all count John as a prophet (21:26)

Authority – TWO SOURCES (Matt. 21:23-27) The baptism of John–– where was it from? From heaven or from men? (21:23) MEN HEAVEN So they answered Jesus and said, "We do not know (21:27) ? ?

Authority – TWO SOURCES (Matt. 21:23-27) The baptism of John–– where was it from? From heaven or from men? (21:23) MEN HEAVEN And when all the people heard Him, even the tax collectors justified God, having been baptized with the baptism of John. But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the will of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him (Lk. 7:29, 30) John 1:29-34

Genesis 3:1-6 –Gods word...eat of all trees except one dont eat it or die (Gen. 2:17) –Satan questions Gods word –Satan inserts not –Eve believes the LIE –Adam fellowships the LIE –Gods word remained unchanged

AUTHORITY TO EAT KNOWLEDGE TREE (NO AUTHORITY) TREE OF LIFE ORANGE TREE PEACH TREE APPLE TREE WALNUT TREE LEMON TREE

Genesis 3:1-6 Genesis 4:1-7 –Cain brought an offering (fruit of ground)did not respect Cain or his offering –Abel brought an offering (firstborn of flock)- respected Abel and his sacrifice –Not all worship is acceptable –must be in truth and spirit –must be done in faith (authority of God)

Hebrews 11:4 By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks. –by faith –more excellent sacrifice (Gen. 4:4) –obtained witness that he was righteous –God testified of his gifts –Abel died, he was still in Gods presence as righteous and serves as an example of saving faith for subsequent generations

Notable Quote Now faith must have some revelation of God on which it fastens. The revelation in this case was doubtless Gods command to sacrifice animals ("the firstlings of the flock") in token of the forfeiture of mens life by sin, and as a type of the promised bruiser of the serpents head, {#Ge 3:15} the one coming sacrifice: this command is implied in Gods having made coats of skin for Adam and Eve: {#Ge 3:21} for these skins must have been taken from animals slain in sacrifice: inasmuch as it was not for food they were slain, animal food not being permitted till after the flood... a coat of skin put on Adam from a sacrificed animal typified the covering or atonement (the Hebrew for atone means to cover) resulting from Christs sacrifice (Jamieson, Fausset, Brown Commentary)

Genesis 3:1-6 Genesis 4:1-7 Genesis 6:1-7 –polygamous, breakdown of family, society, etc. –ensuing violence –world judged by water and the Word

Genesis 3:1-6 Genesis 4:1-7 Genesis 6:1-7 Genesis 11:1-9 –original command: So God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them: Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth (Gen. 9:1) –blatant rebellion (11:4)

Genesis 3:1-6 Genesis 4:1-7 Genesis 6:1-7 Genesis 11:1-9 Leviticus 10:1-3 Numbers 12:1-16 Numbers 16:1-3 1 Samuel 15:13-15 2 Samuel 6:1-7 etc.
