What is Fire?
1
What we will learn today
We will learn about the fire triangle and how we can prevent a fire from happening
2
We have already learned that:
Fire is not like we see on television It is very hot, moves very fast and makes everything very dark
3
We have also learned that:
It takes three things to cause a fire: Heat - or something that is hot Fuel - or something that will burn Oxygen - the air that is all around us
4
Do we know what a triangle is?
Three sided shape - needs all three sides to be connected to be a triangle
5
The same way that the three lines have to be connected to form a triangle, the heat, fuel and oxygen have to be connected to cause a fire. Oxygen Heat Fuel
6
We call this a FIRE TRIANGLE
Air Heat Fuel
7
The red side is the HEAT side.
Fire Triangle The red side is the HEAT side.
8
The yellow side is the FUEL side.
Fire Triangle The yellow side is the FUEL side.
9
The blue side is the OXYGEN side.
Fire Triangle The blue side is the OXYGEN side.
10
Fire Triangle
11
If we remove any one side of the triangle, the fire cannot happen
Remove the HEAT sources, and there is nothing hot to start the fire
12
If we remove any one side of the triangle, the fire cannot happen
Remove the FUEL sources, and there is nothing to burn.
13
If we remove any one side of the triangle, the fire cannot happen
Remove the OXYGEN and there is nothing to feed the fire.
14
