BACKGROUND Prevalence - 1/3 people 65+ fall at least one time a year -1/2 people 80+ fall at least one time a year Significant morbidity - 10-15 % are associated with serious injuries Significant loss of QoL High cost - £ 2.3 billion / year in the UK Cameron et al. (2010); Gillespie et al. (2012); National Institute for Clinical Excellence (2013).
