What is a Slab? A slab is a flat piece of clay that is dried to a leather hard state and then constructed We will be using guide sticks to make sure we keep an even thickness with the roller

Assignment You will be constructing a bird house ▫There must be a to scale blue print drawn first ▫Width and depth can’t be more then 6 inches ▫Height can be taller ▫Must have some kind of creative theme

Tips for Success Keep your templates just in case! Slip and score well!! ALWAYS wet and wrap your slabs/birdhouse until you are completely finished ▫The biggest mistake made is not taking care of your walls ▫Remember even drying rates

Grading Criteria Craftsmanship Detail and Creativity Theme Completeness Symmetry Surface Texture Graded on a 3, 2, 1, 0 scale X 2 [Maximum points = 30]

Finished Project Turn in a bisqued bird house(30 pts) Rough draft drawing/templates with teacher signature and student name (1 bonus point) Self Evaluation with response and reflection You have the option to glaze but it won’t be graded
