1 Peter 2:13-17

L i v i n g (1 Pet 2:13-17 NASB) Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority, {14} or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of those who do right. {15} For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of foolish men. {16} Act as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bondslaves of God. {17} Honor all men; love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king.

L i v i n g (1 Pet 2:13-17 NLT) For the Lord's sake, accept all authority--the king as head of state, {14} and the officials he has appointed. For the king has sent them to punish all who do wrong and to honor those who do right. {15} It is God's will that your good lives should silence those who make foolish accusations against you. {16} You are not slaves; you are free. But your freedom is not an excuse to do evil. You are free to live as God's slaves. {17} Show respect for everyone. Love your Christian brothers and sisters. Fear God. Show respect for the king.
