2 2 Session Objectives  Analyze the relationship between being an immigrant or non-US resident and the ability to respond to a disaster, paying attention to categories of immigrants most likely to be at a disadvantage  Locate and use sources of data on U.S. immigration levels and patterns to assess characteristics of current U.S. foreign-born population  Assess current laws and policies related to immigration status and qualification for disaster- related programs  Locate and/or develop disaster mitigation and response initiatives targeting immigrants
