Work Work is done only when a force moves an object.
When you push, lift, or throw an object, you are doing work. A force acting through a distance is work.

Work Work is not done every time a force is applied.
A force can be applied on an object without work being done on the object. (wall example).

Work Another important requirement for work to be done is that the distance the object moves must be in the same direction as the force applied to the object. (groceries example)

Work The amount of work done in moving an object is equal to the force applied to the object times the distance through which the force is exerted: Unit of work is measured in joule (J). Work=Force x Distance
