5 GOVERNMENT ENCOURAGEMENT AND INITIATIVE IT will change every countrys development opportunities Myanmar Computer Science Development Act was promulgated on September 30th 1996 Myanmar Computer Development Council, the highest policy making body was duly established in October 1998. the Myanmar Computer Professional Association (MCPA), the Myanmar Computer Industry Association (MCIA) and the Myanmar Computer Enthusiasts Association (MCEA) were formed successfully All these computer associations are striving a force in the drive for the ICT development in Myanmar.

6 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY A key source for obtaining knowledge A key element for socio-economic development of a country The basic input for economic development National leaders have been giving direction repeatedly for the development of ICT Become essential for the social and economic progress.

17 Major Milestones Myanmar Computer Science Development Law was promulgated and Myanmar Computer Science Development Council (MCSDC) was formed in 1996 Myanmar Computer Federation (MCF) was formed in 1998 e-ASEAN Framework Agreement signed by Leaders of ASEAN countries e-National Task Force was formed in 2000 CT Master Plan (2001-2010) was approved in 2001 by MCSDC Myanmar ICT Park established e-Government Projects initiated Information Technology

19 IT in Education As part of the SOI ASIA Project, UCSY has been used as one of the earth stations to receive lectures delivered via satellite based internet Multimedia classrooms starts schools from May 1998 Over 400 learning centers get on-line training preparing e-learning system using VSAT Network, Internet Access Install the computers, VSAT network and iPSTAR ( wireless Broad Band) in all high schools and middle schools all over the country with fulfillment of the Government
