2 Introduction Page 2 For the past five years the Community Heroes Awards have gone from strength to strength, recognising the work employees have given to charities/ organisations through fundraising or volunteering. There are ten awards for 2014 which include those introduced last year, they are:  Just out of the Blocks  Spirit of DHL (Customer)  Spirit of DHL (Internal)  Truly Spectacular  Match It! individual  Match It! group  Match It! site  Group volunteering  Individual volunteering  Collaboration

3 Page 3 Application Process TRANSFORMING LIVES, CHANGING COMMUNITIES, INSPIRING OTHERS - ENTER YOURSELF OR NOMINATE COLLEAGUES. IT'S TIME TO RECOGNISE DHL'S HIDDEN HEROES. There is an online application process which can be accessed via: http://heroes.dhlukfoundation.org  20 th January – Online applications open  28 th February – Applications close  w/c 31 st March - Judging Panel  11 th April –Applicants notified of the outcome  16 th May – Award Ceremony, The Belfry Birmingham Heroes receive a donation to their chosen charity or community group. £600 (winners), £300 (runners up)

4 Page 4  Just out of the Blocks – for those individuals starting out in CSR/Community/Charity activity  Spirit of DHL (customer) – for those groups and individuals that have undertaken activities in the name and spirit of DHL, in partnership with a customer(s).  Spirit of DHL (internal) – for those groups and individuals that have undertaken activities in the name and spirit of DHL  Truly Spectacular – for those individuals or groups whose activities cover a diverse range of projects, people and places and may not necessarily fall in line with other award categories or criteria  Match It! Individual fundraising* – for the most money raised by an individual taken from a single Match It! application  Match It! Group fundraising* - for the most money raised by a group taken from a single Match It! application  Match It! Site fundraising* - for the most money raised by a site taken from a single Match It! Application  Individual Volunteering – for an employee with a long standing volunteering commitment  Collaboration – for a group of employees who have collaborated on community activity across functions, locations or divisions  Group Volunteering – for a group of employee volunteers *NOTE: The three Match It! awards will be given based on all the applications received by the DHL UK Foundation in 2013, so no application form has to be completed for these. Award Categories

5 Page 5 Ideas Across DHL there are countless CSR activities taking place throughout the year – some carried out in partnership with the DHL UK Foundation, others at a local, more divisional level. During 2013;  The DHL UK Foundation matched over £292,000, with employees raising over £437,000 and volunteering over 45,000 hours for a variety of charities, schools and communities. Do you know anyone who made a real difference during 2013 that would be worthy of an award?
