5. Vocational secondary school Lasts 3 years Prepares students for a profession There is a final exam at the end

6. Technical secondary school Lasts 4 years Students can continue their studies at colleges of higher education and also at university, if they pass the matura exam.

7. Grammar school Lasts 4 years No profession after finishing Matura is taken at the end Matura grants access to all types of higher education

8. Tertiary education Attended by 19-23/26 year olds Three degrees: Bachelor, Master and Doctorate University takes 4 years to complete and an additional year for a degree
