5. Y9 Pre GCSE Science Most will do Science A course and be examined in June 2016 – their Y10. 3 one hour exams and an ISA (practical exam) Then Additional Science and be examined in June 2017 – their Y11 3 one hour exams and an ISA (practical exam)

6. BTEC Pathways These do not lead to a Science A Level

9. BTEC or GCSE routes will be determined by How the students do in the Y9 assessment in term 2 Teacher judgement as to which pathway is most suitable for your child. You will be informed by letter. Performance throughout Y9 is paramount – Has this student shown they will thrive at GCSE?

10. How to help your child  Learn the syllabus  Some questions are recall  Some questions are application  Practice past paper questions  Highlight the importance of the ISA practical exam – you will receive a letter for this  Support the afterschool and Easter school intervention classes.
