The information contained herein is subject to change without notice. 5 LTO-6 has an 2.5:1 compression ratio due to changes in the ‘History Buffer’ LTO-1, LTO-2, LTO-3, LTO-4 and LTO-5 featured a 1KB History Buffer Giving a typical compression ratio of 2:1 LTO-6 will use a 16KB History Buffer Giving a typical compression ratio of 2.5:1 What this means? As all data received by the drive goes into the history buffer LTO-1 through LTO-5 can only contain the most recent 1024 bytes and this limits the opportunities for a compression data “match” Whereas LTO-6 offers a 16x improvement in the opportunity to find a data “match” Note that the actual compression rate achieved will be vary according to the incidence of duplicate data HP StoreEver LTO-6: enhanced compression ratio A new compression ratio: 2.5:1

The information contained herein is subject to change without notice. 6 Reducing power requirements HP StoreEver pushes down power requirements New power shutdown feature with HP LTO-6 HP LTO-6 Hibernate Mode Drive shuts down to a low power mode if a cartridge is not present Even the cooling fan is shut down Significantly reduces idle power usage Not only does this save power and reduce fan noise, but it can also lengthen the life of the drive.
