4 MERG 2008  What is MERG*? –Multi-professional Evidence-based practice and Research Group –Mission: to improve quality of care through the sustained facilitation of critical thinking, evidence-based practice, and trustwide research by nurses, midwives and allied health professionals. *formerly the Non-Medical Research & Development Group 2004 - 2008

21 NIHR Clinical Academic Training Pathway for Nurses, Midwives and AHPs  Collaboration among NIHR, CNO, ESRC and HEFCE  Funding for research training schemes: comprehensive clinical academic training pathway.  Four levels of integrated training: –Masters in Research (MRes) or Masters in Clinical Research –Doctorate Research (PhD) –Clinical Lectureship –Senior Academic Clinical Lectureship
