2 End-of-High-School Presentation Everything You Want to Know and Then Some SENIORS CLASS OF 2013

3 To begin the discussion about your final weeks of school for the class of 2013. To discuss important dates, deadlines and obligations that you must meet to take part in the ceremony for the Class of 2013. To discuss logistics of the days leading up to graduation. To explain expectations for graduation and why we will all gather for the ceremony. WHY ARE WE HERE TODAY?

5 Senior Survey Available in early May, due June 10 th. You will be reminded via an Ed-Connect phone call/e-mail. Survey is through Naviance at connection.naviance.com/mtcarmelca connection.naviance.com/mtcarmelca A separate survey that includes questions about scholarships will be emailed to you. 7 Senior Awards Ceremony Tuesday June 4 th Recognizing students who have won awards/scholarships. Senior Yearbook Distribution begins on Wednesday June 5 th. Senior Finals June 5-7 WHAT HAPPENS BETWEEN NOW AND GRADUATION?

8 Auditions for Senior Breakfast performers and for Graduation performers and speakers. Senior Breakfast Audition sign-ups May 13 th -24 th in ASB Auditions will be Thursday May 30 at lunch Graduation: Two singers and two speakers Audition sign-ups May 13 th -24 th in the ASB room Auditions will be May 28 th -29 th. Dodgeball Tournament May 20 th -24 th. Signups April29th-May10th. PROM Saturday June 1st WHAT HAPPENS BETWEEN NOW AND GRADUATION?

9 Senior Checkout Monday June 10 th Check out begins at the beginning of period 5 for those that are off roll. Check out continues from 2:35 – 3:30. Dont come during class!! Clear Library fines, other fines, attendance. Most of this should be done before checkout. Begin taking care of fines and attendance now otherwise you cannot participate in Senior Activities!! SENIOR ACTIVITIES

10 Tuesday June 11 th is Senior Breakfast! Performance tryouts May 30 th at lunch Only MCHS Seniors can be performers. About 2 ½ hours and then cap and gown. Students released as soon as they collect cap and gown. SENIOR ACTIVITIES

11 Senior Picnic at Hilltop: Wednesday June 12 th This is a school day! Students are released at approximately 12:30 pm. Graduation tickets will be passed out. SENIOR ACTIVITIES

12 Graduation Practice Thursday June 13 th, 8:30am Mandatory No practice, no ceremony Keys to getting out early…be on time, walk in straight lines, stand up/sit down on cue, listen well. No matter what the forecast states, it will probably be hot. Bring a hat, water, and sun screen. SENIOR ACTIVITIES

13 230 credits in the appropriate categories must be completed. CAHSEE passed. Financial and Attendance Obligations. Obtain Cap and Gown. Attend practice. Avoid last minute discipline problems. HOW DO I MAKE SURE I GRADUATE?

14 Get this taken care of first! Act now before the CASH only date Monday May 20 th !! Possible fines/fees you may owe Book fines Uniforms (never turned it in/paid for it) Outstanding fundraiser debt (i.e. never turned in your candy bar sales money) Athletics issues (i.e. never paid the last installment for camp) FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS

15 Most have ordered/purchased already. If you still need one, order on-line at jostens.com by April 30. Use the Find My Schools Store tab. They will also be sold on the distribution date (June 11 th ) for cash only. Cap/Gown/Medal/tassel/diploma cover is included in the package. CAPS AND GOWNS

16 Thursday June 13 Go to mchs-gradnite.commchs-gradnite.com Party Pals in Sorrento Valley An all night event with arcade games, rock wall, music, dancing and more. Last chance for $100 tickets is Friday April 26 at lunch. Tickets can be purchased at the door. ***May the odds be ever in your favor.*** GRAD NITE

17 Tickets are required to enter the event. Each student will receive 14 tickets that you will pick up at Senior Picnic on June 12 th. If you need more than 14, you may sign up with Ms. Kelley starting May 28 th for an additional 4 tickets. They will be given out on a first come-first served basis until they run out. If you dont use all 14 you may give them to a friend to use. GRADUATION TICKETS

19 Parking Lot Math Problem: Seniors graduating: 502 Tickets per graduate: 14 Average number of ticketholders per vehicle arriving at graduation: 3.9 (502 x 14)/3.9 = 1802 vehicles Capacity of parking lot: 625 Vehicles that wont fit on graduation day: 1177 RECAP: [(502 x 14)/3.9] – 625 = Get here early!! THE CEREMONY

20 People needing assistance up the ramps may wait at the staging area near the bottom of the home ramp. Go over this with your family members. Seniors Check-in at 4:30 at the staging area behind the scoreboard. Processional starts at 5:45 pm on the dot. Ceremony starts about 6:00 pm and finishes about 7:15 pm. THE CEREMONY

21 Dont show up late Dont bring cell phones, cameras, iPods, bouquets, leis, air horns, beach balls, etc. (Just you and the cap and gown) Dont wear jeans, t-shirts, tennis shoes, flip flops. Dont steal someone elses moment. Dont make a decision in these last few weeks that could jeopardize your graduation!! THE CEREMONY DONTS

22 Arrive early, parking is limited. Dress is semi-formal. Start with the tassel on the RIGHT. Pre-arrange for a meeting place on the field after the ceremony. Go to the bathroom before checking in. It will be hot so drink plenty of water. Enjoy the moment!! THE CEREMONY DOS

23 At the ceremony you only get the diploma cover…not the diploma. YOU must pick it up (not your parent) YOU must pick it up (not your parent) You may pick up your diploma from the Registrars Office* in the Main Office Friday 6/14 after 10am or Monday 6/17-Friday 6/21 from 9am-12 noon. *** or personally from Ms. Kastner if you make a bad choice during the ceremony.*** DIPLOMAS

24 How many graduation tickets do I get? 14 and you can sign-up to potentially receive 4 additional tickets starting on May 28 th in Ms. Kelleys office. I do not have a cap and gown, where can I get one? You can order online now from Jostens until April 30 th, after that it is cash only on the distribution date June 11 th. When do I get my diploma? You may pick up your diploma from the Registrars Office on Friday 6/14 after 10am or Monday 6/17-Friday 6/21 from 9am-12 noon. What should I wear to the graduation ceremony? Ladies: A dress or pants suit, wedges or flats would look nice! Gentlemen: Slacks, dress shoes, button down shirt with collar, and a tie would look sharp! WERE YOU PAYING ATTENTION???
