2. Background: The prevalence of diabetes for all age groups worldwide was estimated to be 2.8% in 2000 and projected 4.4% in 2030. The crude prevalence rates of NIDDM among men and women in Bangladesh were 4.13 and 3.90% and that of IGT were 7.20 and 8.11% respectively. An incidence of diabetes is only 2%, while leprosy patients had incidence of diabetic status of 14.2%.3 Those who developed a foot infection, compared with those who did not, the risk of hospitalization was 55.7 times greater and the risk of amputation was 154.5 times greater. Leprosy,one of the most ancient, feared and disabling diseases of human kind, is on the verge of defeat

3. Rationale: Foot complications are common issues in leprosy and diabetic patient. Due to foot complications a lot of people of the world become disable by amputation. PN and foot ulcer are common matter in diabetes and leprosy patients, but there is no study have been found regarding this. Result of this study may help to reduce the foot complication in leprosy patient due to abnormal glycemia.

4. Research questions: 1. What is the proportion of different types of foot complications among leprosy patients? 2. How severe are the foot complications among leprosy patients? 3. What is the glycemic status among leprosy patients and what are the proportions of diabetes and prediabetes in leprosy patients? 4. Is there any association of glycemic status and different categories of abnormal glycemia with types of foot complications in leprosy patients? 5. Is there are any association of the severity of various types of foot complications with glycemic status and different categories of abnormal glycemia?

5. Objectives: General objective: To study the association of glycemic status with the types and severity of foot complications in leprosy patients

6. Specific objectives: 1.To find out the proportion of different types of foot complications among leprosy patients. 2.To find out the severity of the foot complications of leprosy patients. 3.To investigate the glycemic status among the leprosy patients and find out the proportion of diabetes and prediabetes in leprosy patients. 4.To find out the association of glycemic status and different categories of abnormal glycemia with types of foot complications in leprosy patients 5.To find out the association of the severity of various types of foot complications with glycemic status and different categories of abnormal glycemia 6.To find out the socio-demographic characteristics of the study population.

14. Data analysis: Data will be analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Studies (SPSS) version 17. Univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis will be done. Chi- square test odd ratio Data presentation: Data will be presented by tables and graphs.
