OBJECTIVES At the end of this chapter you should be able to:
understand the relationship between the concepts of teaching skill, teaching approach, teaching strategy, teaching style and the learning environment; understand that teaching strategies are specifically designed teaching approaches comprised of a carefully selected cluster of teaching skills/elements of teaching; understand that the appropriate use of teaching skills is essential to achieving ILOs; appreciate that aims, objectives and ILOs can be achieved only if the appropriate strategy is used; be aware of a range of classifications of teaching approaches, both descriptive and prescriptive; be able to recognise and implement a range of teaching strategies.
