2 The University of Zielona Góra was founded on 1 September 2001 as a result of a merger between Zielona Góra's Pedagogical University and Technical University. The University comprises eleven faculties, which provide education for about 18 thousand students within 40 areas of study and different types of courses conducted at various levels: undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate and doctoral. 3 The Institute of Music is one of the oldest units of the University of Zielona Góra, with a 41-year history.

16 Fields of study at the Institute of Music Bachelor Studies (3 years): Music Education (for music teachers) Jazz and Popular Music (for instrumentalists, vocalists and arrangers) Master Studies (2 years): Music Education (for music teachers) The following modules of optional subjects are available during the Master Studies: Teacher Education Jazz and Popular Music Conducting of vocal and vocal-instrumental ensembles Introduction to composition and arrangement New technologies in music

17 Core subjects for students are: Conducting, Score Reading, Piano Playing, Singing, Tonal Harmony, History of Music, Ear Training, Musical Analysis, Pedagogy of Music, Choir, Piano Improvisation, Introduction to Composition, and many others…

18 Graduates are prepared to pursue independent careers as teachers, ensemble conductors, soloists, members of instrumental or vocal ensembles, composers and arrangers of school, jazz and popular music.
