Agenda Introduce Unit Map Locations 20 th Century World War I – Horrible Histories
2
Overview At the beginning of the 20 th century, Western nations were in control of most of the world. The great powers of Europe were the strongest on earth until they turned their machines of destruction on each other in two devastating world wars. Out of World War I came communism in Russia, Nazism in Germany, and the Great Depression worldwide. Out of World War II came a new military strategy – killing as many civilians as possible – and a terrible new weapon for that purpose, the atomic bomb. At the end of World War II, Europe was no longer the dominant region of the world. 2
