8 Illegal Street Racing & Drag Racing in Florida Law Background – Orange County Sheriffs office has requested the BCC enact a spectator ordinance so that deputies may cite spectators at illegal drag races. Approximately a dozen cities and at least one county in California have such an ordinance. (The County Attorneys office made inquiry but received no response from these localities on their experience in enacting and enforcing these ordinances.)

9 Illegal Street Racing & Drag Racing in Florida Law Background – Is the unlawful assembly provision in law an enforcement option? Sheriffs counsel has opined that unlawful assembly is not a viable option to enforce spectator activity because spectators congregating at an illegal drag race is not an unlawful act.
