Linear Function- a function defined by f(x)=mx+b Quadratic Function-a function defined by f(x)=ax^2 + bx+c Parabola- the graph of a quadratic equation Minimum Point- the lowest point of an upward- opening parabola Maximum Point- the highest point on a downward opening parabola Axis of Symmetry- the vertical line containing the vertex of a parabola Vertex- the minimum or maximum point of a parabola

1)Determine if the parabola opens up or down.(If “a” is positive, it opens up; if “a” is negative, it opens down) 2) Find the vertex. 3) Find more points by substituting numbers in for x in an x/y chart. Choose values for x that are near the vertex. 4) Graph the points and connect them.
